What is the placenta?

The placenta is an organ that developes during early pregnancy and weighs around 1 lb at the time of birth. The placenta has two sides. The maternal side is attatched to the uterine wall and is dark red, brown or burgandy in color. The fetal side has the umbilical attatched to it and is blue and purple in color. The placenta helps bring nutrients and oxygen to the baby, and discarding waste. The placenta contains many hormones including prolactin, oxytocin and endorphins.

The Encapsulation Process

After the placenta is washed it may be steamed and then cut into strips. Once cut the placenta is placed in a dehydrater to dehydrate the moisture which takes several hours.

Then the placenta is placed strip by strip into a coffee grinder to turn it into powder. The powder can vary in color from placenta to placenta. However, it normally always is either brownish or reddish.

The powder is then placed into a capsule (vegan friendly).

The capsules are placed into a container.
